Terms and Conditions

Adventure Bikes Company Ltd, trading as Adventure Bikes Company New Zealand (“ABC NZ”, “we”, “us”), is committed to giving you an exceptional and safe adventure motorcycle experience. These terms apply to all bookings for our Guided Tours and Motorcycle Hire. Please read them carefully: by making a booking or using our services, you agree to be bound by them.

1. Prices and Payment

1.1 All prices are in New Zealand Dollars (NZD) and include New Zealand GST at 15%.

1.2 We accept credit/debit card and bank transfer. If you pay in another currency, your bank or card provider may charge conversion fees. We are not responsible for those fees.

1.3 A 3% surcharge applies to damage, fine or excess charges paid by credit card.

2. Deposit and Balance

2.1 A 30% deposit is required to confirm any Guided Tour or Motorcycle Hire booking. The deposit secures your place and your motorcycle.

2.2 Guided Tours: the remaining balance is due 60 days before the tour start date. We will send you an invoice for the balance. Tours booked less than 60 days before the start date must be paid in full at the time of booking.

2.3 Motorcycle Hire: the remaining balance is due 14 days before the hire start date. Hires booked less than 14 days before the start date must be paid in full at the time of booking.

2.4 If the balance is not paid by the due date, we may cancel the booking and the deposit will be forfeited.

3. Cancellation and Changes by You

Guided Tours

3.1 Cancelled 60 days or more before the start date: we refund everything you have paid, less the 30% deposit, which is non-refundable.

3.2 Cancelled less than 60 days before the start date: 100% of the tour price is forfeited.

Motorcycle Hire

3.3 Cancelled 14 days or more before the start date: full refund of everything you have paid, including the deposit.

3.4 Cancelled 7 to 13 days before the start date: the deposit is forfeited and any balance paid is refunded.

3.5 Cancelled less than 7 days before the start date: no refund.

All bookings

3.6 A no-show at the scheduled start time, for any reason, forfeits 100% of the booking price.

3.7 Requests to reschedule must be made at least 14 days before the original start date. Rescheduling depends on availability and a rescheduling fee may apply.

3.8 Refunds are made to the original payment method and may take up to 14 business days.

3.9 We strongly recommend personal travel and medical insurance to cover circumstances that might stop you from attending.

4. Cancellation by ABC NZ

4.1 We may cancel a scheduled tour or hire at any time because of low participation, severe weather, natural disasters, pandemics or other circumstances beyond our control. We will tell you as soon as possible.

4.2 We will offer you another date, or a refund of the deposit and balance you paid, less any non-recoverable payments already made for pre-booked accommodation or activities and administration fees.

4.3 We are not liable for other costs or losses caused by the cancellation, including flights, accommodation and other travel expenses.

5. Rider Requirements

To ride with us, whether on a Guided Tour or a Motorcycle Hire, you must:

5.1 Be at least 21 years old.

5.2 Hold a full motorcycle licence that is valid for riding in New Zealand. If your licence is not in English, you must also carry an approved English translation or an International Driving Permit together with your licence.

5.3 Have enough on-road and off-road riding experience to safely handle the motorcycle you book on the terrain you plan to ride. Each tour page lists the riding level required for that tour.

5.4 Be in suitable physical and mental condition to ride without risk to yourself or others.

6. Riding Gear

6.1 Full protective riding gear is required at all times: helmet, gloves, boots, riding jacket and pants. We also recommend body armour, thermal layers and a waterproof outer shell.

6.2 You can bring your own gear or rent a gear kit (helmet, gloves, jacket and pants) from us for NZ$95 per rider, per booking (boots not included), subject to availability.

7. Motorcycles

7.1 Motorcycles are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. Your first-choice model may not be available, and models may change.

7.2 Motorcycle Hire: the minimum hire period is 3 days. Each hire day is a full 24-hour period. We deliver the motorcycle to your Queenstown accommodation.

7.3 Distance allowance: 350 km per day for 3–4 day hires, and unlimited kilometres for hires of 5 days or more. Extra kilometres beyond the allowance may be charged.

7.4 Late returns may be charged per hour or per day, as set out in your hire agreement.

8. Insurance and Bond

8.1 Standard motorcycle insurance is included in all tour and hire prices for motorcycles owned by ABC NZ. Personal travel and medical insurance is not included.

8.2 A refundable security bond is pre-authorised on your credit card when you collect the motorcycle or at the start of the tour:

• Guided Tours: NZ$2,000 per motorcycle.
• Motorcycle Hire: NZ$2,500 per hire (BMW R1300GS: NZ$4,500 per hire). The bond for each motorcycle is shown on its page.

8.3 The bond is released once the motorcycle and accessories are returned with no damage, loss, unpaid fines or other costs. Repair or replacement costs, late-return charges and fines will be deducted from the bond.

8.4 Your maximum liability for damage is limited to the bond amount plus any motorcycle recovery costs.

9. Safety, Conduct and Fines

9.1 You must ride at your own pace, within your ability, and obey all New Zealand road rules and speed limits.

9.2 Riding under the influence of alcohol or any substance that impairs judgement is strictly prohibited.

9.3 You are responsible for all traffic, speed and parking fines incurred during your booking, including fines that arrive after it ends. We may charge them to your card.

10. Our Right to Refuse or Remove a Rider

10.1 We may refuse any booking. We do not tolerate discrimination on the basis of sex, race or religion.

10.2 We may end a rider’s tour or hire at any time if they breach these terms, ride negligently or carelessly, or are a danger or disruption to themselves, the group or the public. That rider pays their own accommodation, meals and other costs, and no refund is given.

11. Privacy

We respect your privacy and comply with the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020. See our Privacy Policy for details.

12. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of New Zealand. Any dispute is subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the New Zealand courts.
